  • The Golden Owl Tavern is set to open March 31st at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.  The roughly 7,000-square-foot venue will seat up to 200 at full capacity. It will be part of the $87 million, 226-room hotel at the intersection of North Tryon Street and J.W. Clay Boulevard.

  • One hundred of the nation’s top health care systems across the U.S., including Charlotte-based Atrium Health, have come together with an urgent plea for all Americans: mask up, because wearing a facemask is our best chance at slowing the surging COVID-19 pandemic now.  A public service message will run in The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention points to recent studies that have shown facemasks successfully limit spread of the COVID-19 virus.
  • Please note that through August 2021, you will notice a steady pattern of resurfacing work taking place weekdays during daylight hours in Concord.  Concord’s Transportation Department staff have developed a new interactive map, where community members can see the location planned street segments. Once work begins, the segments will show updated status as work is scheduled, underway, and complete.
  • A coffee and cigar shop opened in July in Concord. Sticks and Beans opened at 10070 Edison Square Drive N.W. (formerly Hop & Vine). Co-owners Xavian Seiferth and Marcus Samuel are behind the venture, which also offers small plates and a bar.
